Good to know

How much fabric do I need?

It depends on the window or furniture and on the pattern repeat, which is given on every product page. Your curtain maker or upholsterer will give you an exact figure; order it all at once so it comes from the same batch and arrives as one continuous length.

Can I order a sample?

Yes. Most fabrics have a sample, and up to 6 samples are delivered free. Samples show the colour and the weave, though not always the full pattern repeat.

Can fabric be returned?

Fabric is cut to order for you, so it can't be cancelled or returned. That's why we always suggest ordering a sample first.

How long will delivery take?

Every product page shows its own delivery time and an estimated arrival date. Delivery is free on UK mainland orders over £100; Northern Ireland, the Highlands and islands are charged at checkout.

Do you offer trade accounts?

Yes, for interior designers, decorators and commercial projects. Find out about trade accounts.

Wool Fabric

Wool brings a warmth and a soft, matte surface that is hard to match. It has a natural resilience and a comfortable weight, which makes it a lovely choice for upholstery, heavier curtains and cushions in rooms meant for winter evenings. This page includes pure wools and blends, among them mohair, cashmere and alpaca.

Sanderson offers a dedicated wool range in Islay Wools and Highgrove by Sanderson Wools. Harlequin includes wool in Kasuri Weaves and Sgraffito II, and Zoffany brings refined plains and weaves in Luxury Plains and Arcadian Weaves. Mark Alexander and Zinc Textile add a more contemporary, tactile take.

Wool suits checks, tartans and textured weaves especially well, and it layers happily with linen and velvet, adding a cosy, tailored note to a sitting room or study. If it is going on a sofa or a dining chair, the product details will show its rub test result and recommended use. Composition matters too: a blend may wear differently from a pure wool, so it is worth reading before you order.

Browse upholstery fabric and headboard fabric, see woven and textured fabric, or read The Pattern With a Past on tartan and check.
