Good to know

How much fabric do I need?

It depends on the window or furniture and on the pattern repeat, which is given on every product page. Your curtain maker or upholsterer will give you an exact figure; order it all at once so it comes from the same batch and arrives as one continuous length.

Can I order a sample?

Yes. Most fabrics have a sample, and up to 6 samples are delivered free. Samples show the colour and the weave, though not always the full pattern repeat.

Can fabric be returned?

Fabric is cut to order for you, so it can't be cancelled or returned. That's why we always suggest ordering a sample first.

How long will delivery take?

Every product page shows its own delivery time and an estimated arrival date. Delivery is free on UK mainland orders over £100; Northern Ireland, the Highlands and islands are charged at checkout.

Do you offer trade accounts?

Yes, for interior designers, decorators and commercial projects. Find out about trade accounts.

Headboard Fabric

A headboard is one of the most satisfying places to use a fabric. It is seen every day yet takes far less wear than a sofa, so it can carry a softer texture or a bolder design. Fabric with a little softness and a surface that takes buttoning well looks best here, which is why velvets, chenilles and heavier weaves fill much of this page.

Clarke & Clarke offers a wide choice, including Northwood, Urban and their William Morris Designs. Anna French brings decorative designs in Savoy, Nara and Meridian. Sanderson offers Embleton Bay and Arboretum, and Harlequin adds colour with Colour 4.

A headboard is a lovely way to tie a bedroom together. Matching it to the curtains gives a calm, tailored look, while a contrasting velvet or a large pattern makes it the focal point. Very fine or loosely woven fabrics can pucker when buttoned or stretched, so a mid to heavyweight fabric is the safer choice, and the product details will confirm its recommended use. A sample is the easiest way to see how a colour sits beside your bed linen.
