Bamboo has been drawn on walls for about as long as walls have been papered, and it still reads as calm rather than busy.
Look for Shadow Bamboo in Hanashi by Ohpopsi, Mokume in Shibori by Coordonné and Bamboo Grove by Sandberg, from a fine graphic cane to a full painted grove.
It belongs in a garden room or a bathroom, and it is one of the few patterns that will happily wrap all four walls.
