Artful Wallpaper

Artful Wallpaper

Wallpaper has always had a relationship with art; the best of it borrows the painter's instinct for colour, texture, and composition.

This collection brings together designs inspired by that connection. Expressive brushstrokes, painterly landscapes, mural-scale scenes. Patterns that treat the wall as a canvas without making a fuss about it.

How many rolls do I need?

Use the wallpaper calculator, or "How many rolls do I need?" on any product page, which allows for the pattern repeat. Order all your rolls together so they come from the same batch.

Can I order a sample?

Yes. Most papers have a sample, usually A4, and up to 6 samples are delivered free. A sample is the best way to check colour and texture in your own room.

Why does the batch number matter?

Rolls from different production batches can vary slightly in shade. Rolls ordered together always come from one batch; if you're topping up an earlier order, add its batch number on the product page and we'll match it.

Can I return wallpaper?

Most unused rolls can be returned: tell us within 14 days of delivery and send them back within 30. Some brands charge a 25% restocking fee on returns made after 14 days. Papers that are printed or made to order, and murals, can't be returned. Each product page tells you which applies.

How long will delivery take?

Every product page shows its own delivery time and an estimated arrival date. Delivery is free on UK mainland orders over £100; Northern Ireland, the Highlands and islands are charged at checkout.

Do you offer trade accounts?

Yes, for interior designers, decorators and commercial projects. Find out about trade accounts.

Artful Wallpaper

Wallpaper has always borrowed from the painter, and artful wallpaper borrows most openly of all. These are designs that treat the wall as a canvas: expressive brushstrokes, impressionist scenes, collage and gallery prints, chosen for a room that wants something original rather than something safe.

Clarke & Clarke's Vivido collection is a favourite here, with Figura giving the impression of an abstract painting in delicate watercolour brushstrokes, while Astratto from Lusso overlaps its brush marks into a piece of art for the wall. Romo's Ottavia mural draws on the impressionists, a cascade of painterly roses caught in the light. For something lighter in spirit, Belgravia's Mad House hangs framed pen and ink animals in neat rows like a gallery wall, and Jane Churchill's Atmosphere IV brings an impressionistic scenic view finished with a subtle embossed linen texture.

Because an artful paper is the picture, it is usually happiest with plain furniture and a calm palette around it. Hang it on the wall you face when you walk in, or in a dining room where it can be looked at properly.
