Good to know

How much fabric do I need?

It depends on the window or furniture and on the pattern repeat, which is given on every product page. Your curtain maker or upholsterer will give you an exact figure; order it all at once so it comes from the same batch and arrives as one continuous length.

Can I order a sample?

Yes. Most fabrics have a sample, and up to 6 samples are delivered free. Samples show the colour and the weave, though not always the full pattern repeat.

Can fabric be returned?

Fabric is cut to order for you, so it can't be cancelled or returned. That's why we always suggest ordering a sample first.

How long will delivery take?

Every product page shows its own delivery time and an estimated arrival date. Delivery is free on UK mainland orders over £100; Northern Ireland, the Highlands and islands are charged at checkout.

Do you offer trade accounts?

Yes, for interior designers, decorators and commercial projects. Find out about trade accounts.

Woven and Textured Fabric

Woven and textured fabric earns its place through handle rather than print. Herringbones, bouclés, tweeds, jacquards and slubby weaves give a room substance and warmth, and their pattern, where there is one, is built into the cloth itself.

Sanderson are the bestselling name. Melford Weaves has a subtle herringbone texture, Tuscany II Weaves is a wonderfully robust linen in a palette of country colours, and Orwell Weaves includes Linden, a small-scale geometric taken from a French needlepoint. Harlequin offer Islay in Performance Boucle, a bouclé in sixteen natural shades that wipes clean, and sawtooth stripes in Indoor Outdoor Weaves II.

Clarke & Clarke bring the Morris archive into the weave in William Morris Weaves, where Acanthus Weave is a chenille carrying an imprint of the acanthus design, and Expressions has Calacatta, a jacquard named after Italian veined marble. Morris & Co offer Archive Weaves and Lethaby, inspired by William Richard Lethaby, and Villa Nova add the tactile Morandi Fabric Collection.

For the quietest weaves, see semi-plain fabric and plain fabric, or browse by construction with jacquard fabric and chenille fabric. The same instinct on a wall is herringbone wallpaper, and our piece on texture versus pattern is a helpful guide.
