A collection that travels across cultures and centuries, connected by a single ancient technique. Wax Works draws its inspiration from antique artworks spanning different traditions and different eras — all originally executed using the wax resist method, where wax is applied to cloth before dyeing to create characteristic patterns with the crisp, spontaneous quality that only this process can produce.
Designs include Blossom, Fan Flower and Citadel — the latter drawn from a 17th-century Indian wall hanging, with a complementary stripe design that picks out individual motifs from the same original source. Printed on linen union in Lewis & Wood's characteristic muted, earthy palette, this is a collection with genuine cultural depth behind it. Made in Gloucestershire, with all the craft that implies.
