Grasscloth Wallpaper

Grasscloth wallpaper brings the texture of the natural world to a wall. True grasscloth is woven from natural fibres such as jute, sisal, seagrass and hemp, and its subtle variations in colour and weave give a handcrafted, organic warmth. Printed grasscloth effects capture the same look on an easier, more practical paper.

Thibaut's Grasscloth Resource series is one of the deepest ranges we carry: Grasscloth Resource 7 includes Mackinac, a close, even weave of raffia and papyrus, while Pavilion offers St. Thomas, a faux grasscloth so convincing the eye is fooled. Mark Alexander's Grasscloth II and Grasscloth carry handwoven sisal, reed and burlap, and Osborne & Little's Kanoko uses woven natural grasses. Arte's Essentials Les Naturels brings Le Sisal, drawn from a fibre that has dressed walls since the end of the nineteenth century. For a printed effect, Belgravia's Grasscloth and Galerie's Style Sisters are favourites.

Grasscloth suits a dining room, a study or a bedroom wall, where its warmth can be enjoyed up close.

For other quiet surfaces, browse textured plain wallpaper and wood panel wallpaper, or see brown wallpaper for earthier tones. Our guide, Grasscloth Wallpaper: The Real Weave, and How to Fake It Well, explains the difference.
