Good to know

How much fabric do I need?

It depends on the window or furniture and on the pattern repeat, which is given on every product page. Your curtain maker or upholsterer will give you an exact figure; order it all at once so it comes from the same batch and arrives as one continuous length.

Can I order a sample?

Yes. Most fabrics have a sample, and up to 6 samples are delivered free. Samples show the colour and the weave, though not always the full pattern repeat.

Can fabric be returned?

Fabric is cut to order for you, so it can't be cancelled or returned. That's why we always suggest ordering a sample first.

How long will delivery take?

Every product page shows its own delivery time and an estimated arrival date. Delivery is free on UK mainland orders over £100; Northern Ireland, the Highlands and islands are charged at checkout.

Do you offer trade accounts?

Yes, for interior designers, decorators and commercial projects. Find out about trade accounts.

Chenille Fabric

Chenille takes its name from the French word for caterpillar, after the soft, fuzzy yarn it is woven from. The result is a fabric with a deep, velvety touch and a gentle sheen, comfortable to sit on and lovely to the hand. It is a natural choice for a much-used sofa, an armchair or a headboard.

Villa Nova offers chenille weaves in its Morandi and Atlantis collections, and Clarke & Clarke has a dedicated range in Jaipur Chenille, alongside Elements. Black Edition brings richer textures with Tsauri and Arkose, and Zinc Textile and Zoffany add further chenille designs.

Because chenille has a pile, its colour can shift with the direction of the light, which gives a plain shade real depth and makes chenille especially good in a single, rich colour. For upholstery, the product details will show each fabric's rub test result and recommended use, which is worth checking for a seat that sees daily wear. Keep the pile running in the same direction across a piece so the colour reads evenly.
