York Wallcoverings

Founded in 1895 in Pennsylvania's Susquehanna Valley, York Wallcoverings is the oldest and largest wallpaper manufacturer in the United States, and more than 130 years on, still operating from the same factory that opened its doors in the 19th century. That longevity is not incidental: it has given York access to one of the most extraordinary design archives in the world, with thousands of document designs dating back to the early 1700s that continue to inform and inspire every collection the studio produces.

York is one of the only companies in the world to own and operate all seven types of wallpaper printing press — from rare surface presses that have been running since 1895 to the newest digital technology — giving the range a distinctive breadth and quality of finish that few manufacturers can match. Collections span classic damasks, botanical prints, grasscloth and natural fibre wallcoverings, geometric designs and contemporary patterns, with a design philosophy that blends historical reverence with a genuine instinct for what works in a modern home. Present in 85 countries worldwide, and well worth exploring.
