How much fabric do I need?

It depends on the window or furniture and on the pattern repeat, which is given on every product page. Your curtain maker or upholsterer will give you an exact figure; order it all at once so it comes from the same batch and arrives as one continuous length.

Can I order a sample?

Yes. Most fabrics have a sample, and up to 6 samples are delivered free. Samples show the colour and the weave, though not always the full pattern repeat.

Can fabric be returned?

Fabric is cut to order for you, so it can't be cancelled or returned. That's why we always suggest ordering a sample first.

How long will delivery take?

Every product page shows its own delivery time and an estimated arrival date. Delivery is free on UK mainland orders over £100; Northern Ireland, the Highlands and islands are charged at checkout.

Performance Fabric

Performance fabric is made for real life. Woven from fibres such as solution-dyed acrylics and olefins, it is designed to resist fading, marking and moisture, so it suits family sofas, kitchen benches, conservatories, contract schemes and any seat that sees heavy traffic. Today's designs look and feel far closer to a decorative cloth than older hard-wearing fabrics ever did, in velvets, weaves and textures as well as plains.

Harlequin offers Indoor Outdoor Weaves II, and Clarke & Clarke has Alfesco Indoor Outdoor. Zoffany brings a refined approach with Michael S. Smith Indoor Outdoor, while Thibaut offers a wide choice including the Vista and Soleil collections. Black Edition and Zinc Textile add contemporary textures.

What counts as performance differs between makers, so read the product details for the specifics: the rub test result, any stain or water resistance, light fastness and the recommended use. A fabric suitable for outdoor furniture is not always the right choice for indoor upholstery, and the reverse is also true, so match the rating to the job. A sample is the easiest way to judge the handle before committing to a whole piece.
