Art Deco Wallpaper
Art Deco wallpaper borrows the glamour of the 1920s and 1930s: fans, arches, sunbursts and crisp geometric repeats, often picked out in gold, black and deep jewel colour. It is a style built on symmetry and confidence, which makes it a natural choice for a hallway, a dining room or a powder room that deserves a sense of occasion.
The fan is the signature motif. Chrysler, in Clarke & Clarke's Lusso collection, is a classic Art Deco fan print, and the same brand's Exotica 2 adds Leopardo, a decadent Deco inspired jungle. Casadeco's Twenties brings diamond shapes with sunbeam detailing and golden strands, alongside the equally spirited Annees Folles.
For a lighter touch, Galerie's Lustre places a small-scale geometric arch on a soft neutral background, and Boråstapeter's Samira, from Borosan Hem, draws a scalloped fan in fine dotted line for a little glamour without the drama. The Elodie collection by 1838 Wallcoverings has interlocking symmetrical geometrics typical of the era.
Art Deco sits close to geometric wallpaper, scallop wallpaper and metallic wallpaper, and for a whole wall of it see our Art Deco murals. Read more in The Geometry of Glamour on Decorating Notes.
