Good to know

How much fabric do I need?

It depends on the window or furniture and on the pattern repeat, which is given on every product page. Your curtain maker or upholsterer will give you an exact figure; order it all at once so it comes from the same batch and arrives as one continuous length.

Can I order a sample?

Yes. Most fabrics have a sample, and up to 6 samples are delivered free. Samples show the colour and the weave, though not always the full pattern repeat.

Can fabric be returned?

Fabric is cut to order for you, so it can't be cancelled or returned. That's why we always suggest ordering a sample first.

How long will delivery take?

Every product page shows its own delivery time and an estimated arrival date. Delivery is free on UK mainland orders over £100; Northern Ireland, the Highlands and islands are charged at checkout.

Do you offer trade accounts?

Yes, for interior designers, decorators and commercial projects. Find out about trade accounts.

Cotton Fabric

Cotton holds a print beautifully, which is why so much decorative cloth is woven from it. It is crisp, breathable and easy to live with, taking colour cleanly so that a floral, a stripe or a detailed archive design reads sharply. This page brings together cottons and cotton blends, from printed panamas to weaves and velvets with a cotton base.

Clarke & Clarke offers one of the largest ranges here, including Northwood and their William Morris Designs. Scion brings a bright, graphic eye with Oakham and Pomona, and Morris & Co adds weaves and velvets in Morris & Friends. For striped and ikat cottons, look at Sanderson's Sabu Stripes & Ikats.

A lighter printed cotton is lovely for curtains, blinds and cushions. For upholstery, a heavier cotton weave or a blend is usually the better choice, and the product details will show whether a fabric is rated for it, along with any rub test result. Cotton can soften in strong sunlight over time, so a lining is worth considering at a bright window.

Explore floral fabric and botanical fabric for the patterns cotton suits best, compare with linen fabric, or browse cushion fabric for smaller projects.
