Tropical Wallpaper
Tropical wallpaper brings the warmth of somewhere far away onto the wall: palms and banana leaves, exotic blooms, parrots, monkeys and the odd prowling cat. Some designs fill every inch with green, others are a soft tonal leaf print that sits quietly in a bedroom, and the best of them make a small room such as a cloakroom feel like a glasshouse.
Clarke & Clarke do the genre with real imagination. Wilderie by Emma J Shipley sets a leaping winged lynx among fantastical foliage, while Exotica 2 takes a darker turn with Congo, inspired by the rainforests of Central Africa, and the Art Deco leopards of Leopardo. For pure fun, Holden Decor's Wonderland Tropical has iguanas in top hats and parrots in crowns, and Grandeco's Jungle Fever crowds dense leaves with playful monkeys and colourful birds.
At the grandest end, Arte's Décors & Panoramiques includes Blooming Pineapple, a tropical mural of sugar bush, leopard lily and a pineapple in flower. For something gentler, Rasch's Vasari layers graceful palms in oyster, pearl and warm beige.
